Attempts by Maphele Ramphele to ignore calls to explain her funding have failed. She has finally broken silence on her party's funding model that has raised questions from many South Africans and organisations. This comes after it was revealed that she had been to the United States and Australia to gather financial support.
It was earlier reported that information had been leaked reveling that her funding was channled through an NGO that is based inside the country but receiving monies from outside.
"The decision to establish this party is a decision that is also
accompanied by a determination that this must be a South African
initiative, supported by South Africans" Ramphele told media.
The Anc and many other organisations have rejected this justification. In a statement the Anc said: "The worry that we are raising ... is that when these initiatives were
announced, the founder was in the United States and announced that she
is raising funding," Mantashe said.
Ramphele's Agang was a trending social media topic since yesterday. Many people are not convinced that Ramphele's initiative deserves support.
